“Look at the birds of the air they do not sow nor reap nor gather in barns and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” (Matthew 6:26)
Here, Jesus is reminding us to look or to see. See what? See your identity as one who is incredibly valued and loved by the Father! And notice He didn’t say, “look at the men over there in the field sowing and planting to ensure they always have enough.” No, He said look at the Father’s generosity towards you not because of your hard labor or your performance but because of His great love for you! Was it not the eldest son in the Prodigal Son Parable in Luke 15:28, who insisted the Father relate to him on the basis of his performance but he missed out on entering the Father’s joy? Are you a believer that perhaps has forgotten the gospel truths of Romans 5:8 and now you’re trying to earn a wage that was always a gift to begin with? My encouragement is to drop the shackles of experiencing the love of God through your performance. Come out of the fields of religion and enter into the joy of the Father’s party. Look at the cross once again and hear his words:
‘Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.’ (Luke 15:31)
